Sony Electronics today announced the VPL-PX11 portable SuperBright
projector, which can be integrated easily with other A/V equipment
for use in a variety of environments including, corporate
meeting rooms, classrooms and houses of worship. By adding
optional lens adaptors, the projector can accommodate shorter
or longer throw distances beyond the standard lens.
The portable VPL-PX11 LCD projector is the latest addition
to Sony's line of "P" series solutions, which also
includes VPL-PX15 and VPL-FX50 networkable projectors.
The VPL-PX11 LCD projector offers 2000 ANSI* lumens, features
1024 x 768 XGA resolution, and projects images as large as
300 inches (viewable area measured diagonally).
To address the needs of integrators, a "monitor out"
connector allows the projector to automatically switch between
two RGB input connectors. It also features audio follow capability,
which allows the variable audio output to switch automatically
with a change between the video or RGB inputs, as well as
composite and YC video signals and the RS-232 industry standard
interface used within popular industry control systems. During
operation, the projector outputs just 34dB of noise, making
it virtually imperceptible to the audience.
The VPL-PX11lcd projector features Sony's three-panel LCD
technology, which provides linear color saturation over the
entire gray scale area. Unlike color wheel systems, the projector
can re-create red, green and blue signals at all times, reproducing
brilliant video images. Even when reproducing the brightest
scenes, colors stay vivid and well defined.
Sony's 3D Gamma Correction technology enables the VPL-PX11
projector to produce uniform images and natural color. This
feature allows for the adjustment of multiple individual points
on the image, across various levels of luminance gray scale,
enabling consistent and uniform color reproduction from the
darkest to the brightest images.
Multiscan™ technology allows the projector to receive
and reproduce images with a horizontal frequency of 15 to
91kHz and 43 to 85Hz vertical refresh frequency, making it
compatible with a broad range of computer and video source
equipment. A special button is on the remote and the chassis
to allow one step adjustment of horizontal size, dot phase,
and scan frequency thanks to a feature called Auto Pixel Alignment.
Also, Sony's RGB enhancement circuitry actually makes it possible
to adjust the sharpness of RGB source material ensuring that
spreadsheets and other images with fine detail can always
be adjusted to look their best.
Simplicity is another high point on this projector. A laser
pointer remote control, digital zoom, picture freeze and digital
keystone adjustment makes life easier for presenters. The
picture freeze function allows presenters to switch between
a presentation and the display of a document or other program.
The last displayed image will be retained on the screen until
the presenter releases the freeze function.
The projector's chassis features rounded edges and sculptured
lines. It features a three-point landing design, which can
be adjusted for height and tilt. In addition to floor or rear-screen
installation, for added installation flexibility, the projector
can be mounted to a ceiling with a bracket. Weighing about
11 pounds, the projector also has a sturdy handle for transportation
from room to room.
Sony offers a two-year parts and labor warranty, including
one year of the company's On-Time Support program. This program
provides users with 24-hour, seven-day a week, technical support,
in addition to providing advance shipment of lamps, expedited
48-hour turnaround time for service and emergency loaner equipment.
The Sony VPL-PX11 portable LCD projectors is now available
for a suggested list price of $5,200. For more information
