Sony today announced the addition of two new three-panel
Sony LCD projectors -- the VPL-CX10 and VPL-CS10
-- to its line of SuperLite LCD projectors, featuring 0.9-inch
LCD panels and offering 1200 and 1000 ANSI* lumen brightness,
respectively. The VPL-CX10 has three 0.9" LCD panels
with a Micro Lens Array for true XGA (1024 x 768) resolution,
while the VPL-CS10 produces SVGA (800 x 600) resolution.
The compact, lightweight projectors (7.7 lbs.) are designed
for flexible and multi-purpose use with ceiling-mounted, tabletop
and rear projection capabilities, or mobile use with a retractable
carrying handle.
"The SuperLite VPL-CX10 and the Sony VPL-CS10 projector
add high-performance capabilities to our broadening line of
three-panel LCD SuperLite LCD projectors," said Jonathan
Holmes, manager for projector marketing at Sony Electronics'
Broadcast and Professional Company. "The market is responding
to the rich colors and sharp images that come from three-panel
LCD projectors."
According to Holmes, Sony's three-panel LCD display technology
reproduces exceptionally vivid colors and crisp flicker-free
images -- regardless of image brightness. The VPL-CX10 has
linear color reproduction through the three-panel LCD system.
This means that color saturation does not vary with image
intensity.
Both projectors are equipped with USB hub ports that make
it possible to launch files from an attached computer via
each projector's remote control or to allow an attached computer
to control a projector. The units include Projector Stationä
2.0 software so they can be daisy-chained with up to 127 projectors.
These new units also offer multiple capability with an internal
scan converter, allowing the projectors to display images
from VGA to SXGA. Both units have a horizontal frequency of
15 to 91 kHz, composite video, Y/C video, component video
and 15 k RGB video signals.
The newly designed RM-PJM10 programmable remote control helps
access and launch different files and presentations with the
touch of a single remote key. The remote also triggers on-screen
menu controls.
Set-up with the VPL-CX10 and VPL-CS10 is very flexible with
a height adjuster, as well as the Digital Keystone Function
to adjust the video image and remove keystone errors.
A new design of the cooling structure creates only 36 dB
of noise in these new projectors. In addition, built-in speakers
deliver impressive stereo sound.
The Sony VPL-CX10 and VPL-CS10 projectors will be available
in the early fall at anticipated manufacturer's suggested
list prices of $6,000 and $4,800, respectively.

*ANSI lumens is a measuring method of the American National
Standards Institute. Since there is no uniform method of measuring
brightness, specifications will vary among manufacturers.
