Sony projectors - VPL-PX35 LCD projector

Broadening its lineup of network-ready projectors, Sony Electronics today announced the addition of the VPL-PX35 SuperSmart Sony projector to its installation offerings.

The new 2600 ANSI lumen projector offers simple operation and plug-ins with classroom and conference room audio-visual and electrical systems. In addition, the new model features IP addressability for remote monitoring via the Ethernet and RS-232C control. The new model can also be fitted with a variety of long and short throw lenses.

The LCD projector features a 265-watt UHP lamp and contrast ratio of 500 to 1. It also incorporates newly developed 0.99-inch LCD panels, which feature a new elliptical-shaped optical engine. This new panel design allows almost the equivalent light energy to pass through as larger 1.3-inch panels. It also allowed Sony to minimize the size of the projector.

The VPL-PX35 SuperSmart projector offers a wide range of input connectors and outputs. The system can accept three analog RBG inputs, as well as one DVI-D input. The control panel features two 15-pin HD connectors as well as a five BNC input. The unit also features monitor-out capability with audio and RS-232C and Control-S functionality. The projector can also handle up to UXGA computer signals.

"It was built for medium- to large-size facilities, including auditoriums, classrooms, conference and training rooms, houses of worship, public displays such as museums and for staging applications," said Robert Meakin, marketing manager for projectors at Sony Electronics' Business Solutions and Systems Company. "Architects, consultants and system integrators will appreciate the projector's installation-friendly features, including 90 degree tilt angle and ability to be integrated with the electrical and third-party control systems. The customer will benefit from the VPL-PX35 model's high brightness and network access for remote maintenance."

Meakin noted that Sony's line of SuperSmart projectors, which includes the VPL-PX15, VPL-PX35, VPL-PX40, VPL-FX50, VPL-FX51 and VPL-FE110 models, offer a range of network solutions for small to large-size rooms.

Network-Ready

The Sony VPL-PX35 SuperSmart projector is IP addressable and can be linked via TCP/IP to the Ethernet for remote desktop management and basic network control. For instance, technicians can view the projector's status such as lamp life and select inputs.

New Projector Control Software

When combined with Sony's new PJNET!™ management software, the VPL-PX35 projector allows an academic institution or corporation to schedule timed tasks and conduct virtual on-site monitoring, including up to 255 projectors simultaneously. Diagnostics and troubleshooting can be done remotely by way of a technician's office desktop computer. With the new software, projectors can be automatically programmed at a specific time for a cool down period if required to conserve bulb life.

The VPL-PX35 SuperSmart projector from Sony can be mounted to a ceiling or used in a rear-screen application. The unit measures approximately 16.5 (w) x 4.5 (h) x 12.4 (d) inches and weighs approximately 17 pounds. It is available now at a suggested list price of $5,499.
