Sony wireless projectors bridge the gap
between networked sophistication and first-time-presenter
simplicity.
The Sony VPL-CX85 wireless model, weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces,
is a portable projector that can be easily transported between
meeting rooms or used as an entry level install unit. It comes
with a wireless 802.11b network card and a USB adapter with
the installation software pre-loaded for speedy use.
Featuring an intelligent set-up that automatically performs
keystone correction (vertical and horizontal), a powered lens
and the ability to store settings, the model is easy to turn-on
and start a presentation.
"Security, networking, doubling an investment's value
with portability - all of these corporate priorities are addressed
with this new Sony projector," said Jim Neal, general
manager of display product marketing in Sony Electronics'
IT Products Division. "We understand the need for a comprehensive
view of display technology, because we're a corporate customer
ourselves."
Light conditions in the meeting space don't have to be a consideration
because the projector delivers bright and clear images with
3000 ANSI lumens. The VPL-CX85 has two RGB inputs and one
RGB monitor out, with the option to deliver a presentation
without a PC through the use of MemoryStick® flash media.
Critical for education applications, the RGB monitor out allows
teachers to view their lecture on a desktop monitor while
presenting to students in the classroom.
The Sony video projector comes with two remote controls.
One is a basic presentation remote and the other is a compact
presentation remote that includes slide advancement buttons
and a laser pointer.
To keep presentation information secure, the Sony VPL-CX85
projector also comes equipped with password protection that
prompts users for a pre-determined password before it will
start. To further deter thieves, the unit will not operate
without entering a self-assigned password. Would-be thieves
see a sticker warning that the projector will not operate
without a password.
Available in April, the wireless VPL-CX85 projector will
be priced at about $3,700.
